Memory (Dementia) Assessments
At Nelmar Health Centers, we begin with a screening procedure that identifies individuals who need further assessment. The screening process consists of cognitive screening to clients presenting with concerns about cognitive deficits related to memory in order to evaluate whether the concerns are due to normal aging or an underlying memory disorder.
We then conduct a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary cognitive and diagnostic evaluation of clients with evident or suspected presence of memory loss. Our neuropsychological assessment is one of the most sensitive indicators of identifying the reason for changes in cognition and behavior. It is useful for defining the type of neurodegeneration (Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia), as well as for monitoring changes over time.
